I'm trying to use misfit to create and texture SL sculpties. Let's concentrate on the texturing problem for now.

I want to crete a texture (say 512x512) that I will be able to wrap around my sculpt in Second Life. I was hoping that I could texture the object in MM3D using groups and materials and then get the complete texture back.

The starting point is a sphere 32x31.

As a proof of concept, I created the sphere in MM3D and grouped the faces in three groups. Each group has a different material (just a different color in this case).

I can get the texturoing area for a single group (for example the central group in green) with "Materials/Paint Texture" (the UV space is set according to SL sculpt specifications):

Note that the area in the texture is blue! I was hoping it would have been filled with the material I defined for the group, that would have been perfect. If not the full texture, at least a different color for each group would have worked as well.

I can easily get the texturing area for more than one groups at once selecting the two other groups:

to obtain:

Now it's hard to determine where each group has gone because they have a similar shape.

Of course, I can save one texture at the time, change the color and group them in GIMP using layers to obtain something like this:

where you can recognize the different groups. But it would become a nightmare with more groups!
